Speaking as an Author

A week ago I had the pleasure of speaking at the Mind Body Soul Show & Experience in Alexandra Palace, London.

My talk was primarily to promote my newly published cookbook ‘VeganEast Cooking’ Nutritious Plant-based Dishes, as well as to introduce myself and my business, focusing on the benefits of adopting a plant-based diet.

I kicked off the day on the stage at 10.30am and had been nervous in the buildup however felt confident with my talk as I had prepared well beforehand as well as quickly grabbing a neighbouring stand who were showcasing the benefits of sound bowls plus much more. The chap I was fortunate to ‘grab’ literally, was very pleasant and accommodating. I informed him I was nervous and he turned around and said ‘Boy you are full of excitement, let’s calm you down’ and he got to work with calming me down to the sound and rhythm of the sound bowl. In 5 minutes, I was calm and relaxed and ready to get on stage and ‘perform’, which I did.

Firstly, I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to my publishers, Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual Organisation @ Inspired Stillness, who took on my Amazon self-published cookbook, born during Covid, and turned it around to a fantastic looking book full of updated and corrected content (when you are self-publishing, writing and editing your own book, many mistakes can appear)! My publishers were there on the day to support me and to promote the book as well as having some lovely friends come along to support me.

I have always hated public speaking however what I realised was that if you know your subject well and have faith and belief in what you are talking about, any talk will flow easily, which is what happened on the day.

I had positive feedback from the day, talked with a few people who have now become new clients and sold a good number of books so, all in all, it was a positive day.

If you don’t like speaking in public, one thing I can truly say is that with the right support and self-belief, you can truly make anything happen - I am a good example because I thought this day would never come!

PREPARATION IS THE KEY TO SUCCESS!
