Benefits of Beans
Beans plays an important part in our diet, especially when we are following a Plant-based diet as it is one of the healthiest and nutritious sources of protein.
Beans are extremely versatile!
Not only can they be eaten on their own, they are a great addition to stews and casseroles, creating delicious dips (hummus being amongst them and not only using chickpeas for this popular dip), adding them to desserts (cakes and puddings), roasting them for snacks and so on, the list is endless.
Beans contain amino acids, which are the protein building blocks that the body uses to heal and to make new tissues, such as bone, muscle, hair, skin, and blood. Protein is an essential nutrient.
There are many types of beans.
Dried beans need cooking to make them tender enough to eat. Canned and frozen beans are typically ready to eat or after warming on the stove.
Some of the most popular bean varieties include:
black beans
black-eyed peas
soybeans
kidney beans
chickpeas
pinto beans
